I have been asking for change and I am now receiving it. It is deeply humbling. In the fire of transformation all you can do is let go.
Closing a heartful year of growth and joy in the seat of tenderness, here are three things that are getting me by as 2022 comes to a close.
New SZA. This came right on time. So crazy, so feeling, so hot 🥵, so horny, so funny (“I’m so mature, I’m so mature, I’m so mature”). I just learned that the album cover was inspired by an image of Princess Diana, which is extra good for me.
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. In the lead-up to the midterms, my sleep went to absolute trash. I was lucky enough to get access to complimentary acupuncture for activists and organizers, which helped to balance my tired but wired system. This bodywork and a round of recommended herbs continue to nurture and support. Sidebar: If you’re an activist / organizer working in NYC and looking for support, hit me up and I’ll share the details.
Impermanence. There are unanswerable questions and in this moment, the most compassionate response I can offer is to let those questions go. In the release, I am supported in my practice. Dharma can’t tell me what the answer is but it can hold me in the process of moving toward insight. Each morning I bring my forehead to the ground and with each bow I empty, cultivating my acceptance of impermanence again and again. More thoughts on this to come.
What are the things getting you by in this time? Where is impermanence showing up in your experience?
